Accessibility Statement
Woods Excavating builds ground that whole communities use. The same standard applies here: this website is built toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and this page says plainly where it still falls short.
What we do
- Semantic structure: real headings, lists, tables, and labeled form fields that work with screen readers
- Full keyboard operability, visible focus indicators, and a skip-to-content link on every page
- Text contrast that meets AA ratios in both the light and dark color themes, including the price and rate tables
- Background video is muted, carries no information that exists only in the footage, and has a visible pause control; photo slideshows and the rotating testimonials also have a pause control and stop while you hover or focus on them
- Reduced-motion support: if your system asks for less motion, animations and autoplay stop
- Layouts that reflow for zoom up to 200% and small screens without horizontal scrolling
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology
- No accessibility overlay widgets; conformance is built into the pages themselves
Where we're still working
Known gaps as of September 3, 2026, with what we are doing about them:
- Captions. The company overview video, the team video, and the two client testimonial videos do not yet carry synchronized captions or audio description. Captions are planned as a post-launch addition, designed to match the videos, and will be added to every placement once they are ready; until then the pages around each video carry the same facts in text.
- Gallery photo descriptions. The photo slideshows on the job-type pages use a short description per page rather than one per photo. Per-photo descriptions are being written.
- Map keyboard use. The service-area map's towns and project pins can be reached with the keyboard and are named; the same information is available as text on the Service Area and What We Do pages.
If we publish something else that falls short, we want to know.
Something in your way?
If any part of this site is hard to use with your assistive technology, tell us and we'll fix it. Call 207-839-4604 or use the contact form (choose "Something else" as the type). You'll get a person, not a ticket queue.
Standard
Conformance target: WCAG 2.1 Level AA; current status: partially conformant, with the gaps listed above. This statement was last reviewed on September 3, 2026 and is revisited as the site changes.
