Woods Excavating
A company built on the work. Woods Excavating is a team: foremen who run their own jobs. Operators who treat grade like a craft. Truck drivers, mechanics, and laborers who show up because the work matters and the company backs them. We're based in Gorham, Maine, and we work where we live. The roads, utilities, and building sites we work on are the ones our own families use.
On Maine job sites since 1988
The company behind the name has been rebuilt, machine by machine and hire by hire.
The Woods name goes up in Gorham. Small residential roots.
Chris Woods leads the company into commercial work. The first commercial job follows the same year: bridge approach work for the I-95 turnpike bridge in Falmouth.
The first major utility job: a 15-foot-deep sanitary sewer on Mallison Street in Gorham. Underground work becomes a core trade.
The Saco box culvert. The main install done in a single weekend under one of the busiest off-ramps on I-95, reopened on schedule.
Woods expands into aggregate production: crushers, screens, and ground of our own. Today that operation loads out of two pits, in Standish and Buxton.
A company built around its people: partnering with clients across Southern Maine, growing its sitework and aggregate capability, and taking on more complex work every year.
